Background

This high-end independent wine business was originally established in 2009 in Leigh Court, Bristol and subsequently relocated to picturesque Clifton Village. In 2020 there was an opportunity for the shop to move to the centre of the Village, to larger premises that occupied a much stronger high street presence – it was an opportunity this entrepreneurial and ambitious company could not turn down.

My work

Owners Richard and Aidan initially approached me to coordinate and execute a 3-month media campaign to promote the move. During this period, I managed all media activity and advertising, organised a launch event, liaised with key suppliers, created content for all social media platforms and oversaw a targeted through-the-door leaflet drop.

The new shop is now well established and looks stunning and has enjoyed a substantial increase in both customer footfall and online purchases. Having originally been engaged to support a specific project, I was delighted to be asked if I would like to continue to work with DBM on an on-going basis. Working with Richard, I now manage much of the shop’s marketing, focusing on promoting the brand, through consistent messaging and targeted communications.

Working with a thriving business can be extremely rewarding and I am very happy to have been a small part of the DBM success story…I also never have an excuse to buy a dud bottle of wine again!

Richard says...

DBM Wines initially engaged Holly on a three-month project to manage and coordinate a media campaign to support the opening of our new, bigger premises in Clifton Village. She managed all media and PR and helped organise a launch event that complied with the social distancing rules at that time.

Knowing Holly had this project covered was a great relief, as the management team could then focus on the physical issues of moving the business. Without her, we would not have achieved a small fraction of the coverage we got. The campaign was a success, and the shop was busy from day one.

Following this, and as a result of Holly’s attention to detail and determination that we don’t miss deadlines (which is much needed), she now works with DBM Wines on an on-going basis, providing marketing support across all channels, and has wrestled our social media into the professional, brand led channel it should be.

I now think of Holly as our part-time marketing director.
